Hundreds of Orlando International Airport’s restaurant workers have been furloughed from their jobs since late March because of the coronavirus pandemic, all of them waiting for the day they’d get a call to come back to work. Then, last week, they got a letter that’s all but quashed that hope. It informed them that 782 people, more than 90% of the workers employed at the Orlando airport by HMSHost, could be laid off permanently by mid-October.
