Thermal scanners are the latest technology being deployed to detect the coronavirus. But they don’t really work.

The temperature-measuring scanners being installed rapidly across the U.S. were never meant for medical use, and industry veterans say they’re seeing “a lot of folks popping up in the marketplace making claims that, frankly, the science can’t support.”
